YOUR DAY, AT A GLANCE

A little planning. A great day out.

◷ 6–7 hours✈ Non-towered↗ Ground transportation required

Friday or Saturday for both lunch choices; Sunday with a later start. Tuesday–Thursday works with Littlebird at lunch. Confirm ground transport before choosing your day.

Suggested time on the ground includes a planning allowance for transfers. Driving times, bookings and availability are not live. Use current aviation sources for your flight.

  1. Arrive with a transport plan

Meet your prearranged ride or collect a car approved for the full outing. The standard two-hour courtesy-car allowance is too short for this itinerary.

  2. Start among gardens and sculpture

Make a selective visit to Meijer Gardens. Focus on the areas that interest you; it can easily fill a whole day if you prefer a slower pace.

  3. Choose your lunch stop

Head downtown for Littlebird, or choose The Knickerbocker Friday–Sunday. Leave room for the drive and parking; these are separate stops from the gardens.

  4. Explore riverfront history

Visit the Grand Rapids Public Museum if time allows, then meet your return ride. Shorten the outing instead of rushing the trip back to your airplane.

Settle these details before departure

Getting around: Reserve through the airport manager. Courtesy cars normally have a two-hour limit and 30-mile radius; longer use requires special approval. Drivers must be over 21 with a valid U.S. license and proof of insurance. Secure approved full-day use or separate transport before committing to both attractions.

Return plan: Agree on the return pickup or car-return time before leaving 8D4. Keep an allowance for traffic, refueling and your own preflight; both attractions are optional and the badge has no deadline.

Season: Year-round attractions with holiday exceptions. Outdoor gardens depend on weather. Winter Monday closures are published inconsistently on Meijer Gardens' website; confirm your date.
